Shadows of Brimstone Harvesters

Sticking with my current Weird West theme, here are three interdimensional aliens that were produced for Flying Frog's Shadows of Brimstone game - the Harvesters. Using tears in the fabric of space to pass between worlds, these interdimensional travellers  cross over in search of raw materials and artefacts to collect. Wearing heavy environmental suits to protect them from the hazards of our reality, the Harvesters are nearly indestructible. Often times they are connected to their own world through long hoses that stretch out behind them and extend back through a shimmering gateway, bringing whatever substances they require to sustain them in our world. Lumbering but ruthless, the Harvesters are relentless in their search for anything of interest or value to bring back to their own dimension.
Harvesters are alien collectors from another dimension that wear massive suits of powered armour to "dive" into other worlds. They seek out new technology, ancient artefacts and all forms of Dark Stone to take back home with them. The Heavy Environment Suits that the Harvesters wear make them almost impervious to harm. This gives them a brutally high Defence and makes them immune to Critical Hits as well as damage from explosives (like Dynamite) and Environment/Weather sources.
Harvesters also have several special attacks that can be triggered by Grappling their opponents - when they roll doubles on their Combat to Hit rolls! This double To hit roll determines which special Grapple Attack is triggered and happens even if the double rolled would miss. One ability called Bash means that the Hero hit is Bounced D3 times (just like Dynamite Bounces) in random directions using the Dynamite Bounce Chart. This Bounce will move the Hero model through any other models in the path, but if the space they would end on is already occupied (or would hit a wall), place the Hero in the last unoccupied space moved through.
These plastic figures came in five parts, not including their bases. Very helpfully, their arms can rotate, allowing you to pose them differently as I have done. They look very much like old-style deep sea divers crossed with sci-fi powered armour. It is rather unusual to see such aliens who'd be more at home in a sci-fi setting than in a Weird West game, but dimensional travel is a major feature of Shadows of Brimstone so that means anything goes. I'm thinking of having these three aliens pop up in Mega City One in my Judge Dredd Miniatures Game campaign. Note that they are very tall, standing roughly 50mm high. They are glued onto 40mm diameter bases.

  3. I actually thought this was a "Deep Wars" posting for a moment, Bryan and was thinking you'd kept your interest in that particular genre quiet. Great looking minis and reasonably priced too - having Google-Fu'd a costing.

    1. Thanks, Simon. No, I am definitely not into Deep Wars at all, although I am aware of it. Dave is right - these figures would work well in that game. They are quite cheap as well. I certainly didn't pay much for my set, which I got from a seller on eBay.

As this is my last post before Christmas I'd like to wish you a very merry Christmas. I hope it's a good one.

    2. "my last post before Christmas" - Really? The way you've been cranking out painted minis and postings I'd have thought you could have squeezed another ten or so articles in!! ;-) Merry Christmas, Bryan :-)

  4. Great looking mini's and another corking paint job Bryan.
I know nothing about "Deep Wars", so can't comment in that direction, but when I first saw them I immediately thought of the console game "Bioshock" !
Hope you have a cracking Christmas Bryan, and I'll be looking forward to catching up here and on WOIN after the festivities :-)

    1. Thank you kindly, Greg. I'm afraid I've never heard of "Bioshock" so I guess that evens us out in the ignorance stakes. :-)

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, my friend. All the best.

  5. Well don’t these look awesome! Personally I think I would have gone for an ancient tarnished look to the diver suits so they could dual role as ghosts of ancient mariners etc but I love the depth of colour you’ve achieved with the gold buddy.

    Merry Xmas to you

    1. Thank you, Andy. To be fair I never thought of an alternative colour scheme - I simply copied the official colour scheme.

      All the best for Christmas.

  7. I'm someone who has lived a life seemingly in the background, I must say this final indignity I have suffered almost too much to endure. You see, I have been sickly and weak since the day I was born and doomed to go through all my life a weakling. I seemed to have always suffered from one illness or another and could never play with the other children as I so desperately wanted to. Mother always made such a big fuss over me, also, making the situation worse as the other boys teased me mercilessly after they saw it. I was browsing  the internet searching on how i could be transformed into a powerful when i came across the email of a man named Lord Mark. who was a VAMPIRE so I told him that I has always dreamed of becoming a  VAMPIRES, All i did was just to follow the procedure that i was been told, and i bet you that procedure I took change my entire life to something i ever desire, freedom, sickness free, pains free, fame, influence, connections and even more that i can. Thanks to Lord Mark. Do you want a life full of interesting things? Do you want to have power and influence over others? To be charming and desirable?
