After painting the four heroes for the basic game of Resident Evil 2 by Steam Forged Games, I turned my attention to some of the enemies they would encounter. Strictly speaking, I should have started with the Zombies as they are the common enemy who appear in every scenario, but instead I opted to paint some of the uncommon and rare foes. In this post I'm reviewing two of the uncommon foes - Lickers and Zombie Dogs. Note that in each photo, I have included my 28mm scale figure of Vampifan to give you an idea of the scale of the enemies.
Lickers are skinless mutants with long prehensile tongues and claws. They are very adept at climbing walls and ceilings, not unlike a spider. In the game, they have a movement rate of 1 and 3 wounds, making them tough opponents. Their special ability is Scuttler. A licker makes a move reaction every time a character on the same tile or a linked tile performs a move action, unless the character began the move in the same square as the Licker.
The two Lickers to the left of the photos are normal Lickers. The two to the right are slightly different with a much longer central claw on their hands. These are Evolved Lickers. In game terms, Evolved Lickers move 2 squares and cause 2 points of damage as opposed to 1 by a normal Licker. Both types of Licker may attack a character who is one square away from them or in their same square. Lickers are nasty!
Next up are the Zombie Dogs. They only have 1 wound but can move 2 squares and they have the Pack Mentality special ability. Before resolving a Rabid Chase attack, all Zombie Dogs on the same and any linked tiles as the active character perform a move reaction.
Although Zombie Dogs are just as easy to kill as human Zombies, they are much faster and close in on you in no time at all.
These are great figures and they were very easy to paint. I do like the fact that they are all unique sculpts. The Zombie Dogs are sculpted on 20mm diameter bases and the Lickers are on bases measuring 20mm by 40mm.

Vampifan's Views 52 - My 500th Post

| Vampirella with unfeasibly large boobs by Julius Zimmerman |
For a long time now I have wanted to run a prize draw competition on my blog, but I needed a good enough excuse to run it. When my blog celebrated its 5th anniversary earlier this year, I could and possibly should have ran it then. But I didn't. I did however notice that my 500th post was approaching so I decided to wait for it in order to celebrate.
First I'll explain the rules of the competition, then I'll tell you about the prizes. Yes, that is prizes, plural. Inspired by a question and answer session ran by Johnny/Lord Siwoc and copied by a few other bloggers, I wanted to run my version of it, but with a few tweaks to the format.
So, you can ask me any three questions you want, based on any subject and I'll give you my honest answers. If you want to ask less than three questions that's fine by me. Just send your questions in the comments section of this post. I'll run the competition for a week and announce the winners along with all of my answers next Wednesday (16th of July 2014). So now let's move on to the three prizes I'm offering.
The first prize will be a boxed set of 20 plastic 28mm scale zombie dogs from Zombicide season 2. If you don't play Zombicide, you can still use these figures in any post-apocalypse or zombie apocalypse game. There are four types of dog and five of each type.
Sticking with the theme of dogs, the second prize will be a boxed set of 6 plastic 28mm scale dog companions from Zombicide season 2. This set contains two of each of three breeds of dog. Because these are "normal" dogs you can use them in pretty much any game or genre.
The third prize is a set of 6 Armorcast 28mm scale Road Kill Animals. Unlike the previous two prizes, this prize comes fully painted by me. From left to right are an armadillo, a coyote, a jack rabbit, a raccoon, a rattlesnake and a skunk.
If you are wondering why I am offering these as prizes it is simply because they are all duplicates. I only need one set of each, so I thought I'd offer my duplicate sets as prizes. If there are any prizes you specifically want or don't want please mention it when you send in your questions. It is entirely possible that one person could win all three prizes! If you don't mention the prizes I'll just assume you don't mind which one(s) you might win.
Be creative and be entertaining with your questions. Let's have a bit of fun and may the best man (or woman) win. In the meantime, a MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone for helping me reach this historic milestone. Here's to the next 500 posts and hopefully, many more!

Tengu Models Zombie Dogs 01
This is my third and final review of the new stuff recently produced by Tengu Models for their contemporary 28mm scale zombies range. This time I'm reviewing not human zombies, but zombie dogs.
Iain has sculpted three zombie dogs and they are shown left to right from smallest to largest. At the far left is BH04C Zeus, a bull terrier. Not being particular au fait with dog breeds, I used Google Images to look up appropriate colour schemes for the three breeds depicted. Zeus has been bitten on his left side and in the centre of his back. He is the only dog out of the three to be wearing a dog collar.
In the centre of the group is BH04B Toby, who is a Rottweiler. Toby has numerous bite wounds to his body. He looks like he is about to leap.
Last up is BH04A Scube the Great Dane. The reference to Scooby Doo is obvious but I have not painted him like the famous cartoon dog. The huge wound to his left side clearly shows the bones of his rib cage.
Zombie dogs do appear in some films, books and games but have never been mentioned in ATZ. As such, I'm rather reluctant to use them in my campaign. However, never say never. They may appear way down the line. They are beautifully sculpted figures. I should point out that they do not come with slottatabs. Instead each figure has a peg attached to two of their paws. I drilled a couple of holes in my slottabases and then glued the figures in place with superglue.
Each figure retails for £3.50 from the Tengu Models webstore. They may not be to everyone's taste but if you do want zombie dogs in your game, I can highly recommend them.
