West Wind Motorcycle Cops

Staying with West Wind's Road Kill range, here are the 32mm scale motorcycle cops from set GRK013. Just like the vampire bikers and werewolf bikers that I reviewed recently, you get two figures on bikes and two dismounted versions. However, unlike the previous two sets, there is only one pack of motorcycle cops to choose and what you see is what you get.
The mounted cop at the left has both hands on the handlebars of his bike. Note how these bikes are very different to the ones used by the vampires and werewolves. I'm no motorbike expert, but to me, they look like the Harley Davidson bikes used by the cops in the TV series CHIPS, as well as countless films. The dismounted version of the driver has drawn his pistol and holds it in a two-handed grip in relaxed pose. What I love about these motorcycle cops are their fleece-lined jackets. I think the fleece collars are a nice touch.
The cop at the right holds his pistol in his right hand in both versions. This cop is more businesslike than his partner. Note that his jacket is zipped up, unlike his partner's. One thing that I meant to do with the bikes was to write the word POLICE on the sides of the two panniers at the back and just above the front headlight using my Rotring technical drawing pen. Unfortunately the nib is all bunged up so I need to get a replacement. It's not a high priority purchase so I may wait awhile before buying one. I don't feel confident in my ability to paint the word POLICE on the bikes six times and have them all look the same.
These bikers are going to form part of my Mayhem City Police Department as they struggle against the rising tide of zombies in my ATZ campaign. They are nice figures and very well sculpted but I don't think they are such an essential purchase as the vampire bikers, werewolf bikers or the human biker gang. Nevertheless, I felt they were worth showing seeing as I'm posting a lot about bikers recently. This set of four figures costs £9.99 from West Wind's webstore.

  1. Nice miniatures. Very useful for guarding the highways to Lake Havasu. Instead of writing the word "police" sveral times, how about using decals? Or is that cheating?

  2. Those are nice. Nice paint job, too. The first thing I thought when I saw the pics was "CHP"s. :)

  4. @Oliver. using decals is certainly not cheating. I have two problems with them. First is finding the right ones in the right size and colour. Second, when you put decals on a white background they inevitably discolour over a long period of time. That bugs me. So, I'll wait until I get a new nib for my pen and just write on them. I've done it before and it works well.

@Luckyjoe. Thanks, LJ. My thoughts exactly!

@The Angry Lurker. Welcome aboard and thanks for your comments.

  5. Sweet reviews on the motorcycle packs, Bryan, thanks! I've been looking at those for quite a while now. You've mentioned the large size of West Wind miniatures several times, how about a short size comparison post to show just how big they are?

    Keep up the great work!

  6. OOh, now these are cool. Great job on the paint. I think I will have to break down and get these for my ATZ games. I'd have to paint them as local cops though.

Any chance of a size comparison shot with some off the more popular minis out there for us simple folk .... :)

  8. Thanks for the comments, everyone. I'll get to work on photographing a size comparison shot for you. I might go further and run a size comparison of most of the more popular ranges of zombies as well. It should make for a useful post. Look out for it real soon.
