Foundry Bikini Babes 01

It's summer, or at least what passes for summer here in the UK. As I type this the weather is dull, cold and overcast with grey clouds threatening a downpour anytime. Anyway, it must be bright and sunny somewhere in the world, so with that in mind here is the first of three articles to celebrate summer. This figure review looks at the Wargames Foundry set SV052 Ballistic Beach Babes from the 28mm scale Street Violence range.
These five beauties dressed in bikinis and high-heeled shoes make up the first of two sets of Foundry babes with guns. Starting at the far left of the two photos is Babs. I painted her with platinum blonde hair, a pink bikini and white shoes. She holds a 5.56mm Colt M16 Assault Rifle in her right hand.
To her left is the much paler-skinned Val. Redheads tend to be pale-skinned so I didn't want her to have a bronzed flesh body. She was mainly painted using Citadel Elf Flesh, with a mix of Citadel Skull White for the highlights. Besides, giving the girls diffent skin tones provides contrast for the group. Her bikini is lime green and her shoes black. She is armed with a 7.62mm Kalashnikov AK47 Assault Rifle and she is the only one of the five girls to hold her rifle two-handed, ready to fire. Note that she is left-handed.
In the centre of the group is Twinkle. I didn't choose these names - they're the names given to them by the folk at Foundry. Twinkle's white bikini and shoes contrast well with her bronzed flesh and brown hair. She is also armed with an AK47 Assault Rifle.
Standing to her left is Latino babe Jo. Jo's dusky skin tone was achieved by painting her with Citadel Bestial Brown and highlighting with Citadel Snakebite Leather. Her pale blue bikini and shoes, once again, provide a nice contrast. She, too, is a fan of Mr. Kalashnikov, arming herself with the ubiquitous AK47 Assault Rifle.
Last in line is Carron, looking over her left shoulder. She wears a red bikini and black strappy shoes. She has chosen a different rifle to her colleagues - a 7.62mm Heckler and Koch G3 Assault Rifle. It is unusual for Foundry to produce a set of figures with no variety in the weapon types. All carry Assault Rifles, only the manufacturer differs, which makes no difference whatsoever in a game like ATZ.
Although I like these figures a lot, I just can't see much use for them. They are very well sculpted and what red-blooded male wouldn't want to be surrounded by a bevy of armed beach babes? I can accept the notion of streetwalkers arming themselves to form a gang but not a bunch of beach babes. They'd probably work in a one-off scenario like the Marsden Beach Massacre but I couldn't see them surviving in a campaign. Mind you, if you stray away from the world of horror, they'd be ideal as a group of bodyguards to an evil mastermind in a James Bond or Austin Powers type scenario! If you think you can find a use for them, they cost £10.00 for all five figures.

  1. Those bottoms must ride up into the unknown after a while, you could dice for it, great work sir, they're pretty.

  2. Nice and neat. My favorite is Carron I love the look of the G3 rifle.

  3. Ha, ha, ha! What an inspired idea, Fran! Apparently, the top destination is Uranus! I'll get my coat now.

  4. I've always had a liking for just about any firearm made by Heckler and Koch, and yes, I like the look of the G3 as well, Brummie.

  5. Bryan- These could be the strippers for your strip club. A lot of "exotic" dance wear is nothing more then Bikini style outfits, granted you do occasionally get the dancer who comes out on stage in something like a teddy, bodice, or some kind of costume (think naughty nurse or police vixen) though under the costume is typically the bikini outfit.

Anyways as always great job. These (along with most the foundry "modern" stuff has been on my wish list for a while now, unfortunately since I no longer have a vehicle, truck ended up DOA with no chance of resuscitation, all spare cash is going towards a new vehicle. At least it will give me an excuse to get cracking on the card stock scenery, especially since card stock modeling is fairly cheap compared to buying new miniatures all the time.

  6. That's a good point, Doug. Instead of thinking of them as beach babes, I should be thinking lap dancers instead. I don't have to worry about choosing figures to populate my brothel/strip club. Hmmm, Mayhem City - home to America's biggest whorehouse.

I'm sorry to hear about your truck. I imagine that'll be costly to replace. I don't drive, so I have no idea of vehicle prices or if they're cheaper to buy in the states compared to the UK. Yes, cardstock modelling is cheap, especially now that WWG have reopened their webstore with reduced prices on many of their products and the offer of free kitbashes that were made for whatever set you buy.

  7. Again... Well done mate. And I would concur, these look to be much better used as lapdancers.

(Strippers VS zombies? Awfull movie I know!)

  8. I think we're agreed, Johnny, these are strippers now. I've seen Zombie Strippers but Strippers vs Zombies has escaped me so far. Is it really that bad?

  9. Bryan- If Strippers vs. Zombies is the movie I am thinking it also goes by Zombie, Zombies, Zombies. it is a terrible movie, but not as bad as Uwe Boll's House of the Dead, though then again anything is a step better then his work, I am so glad that id and Capcom told him no when he tried to get the rights to do a Doom movie and Resident Evil movie respectively, he seems to ruin what ever movie he does that's "based" on a video game.

Have you seen Zombie Strippers with Robert Englund, the former Mr. Freddy Kruger? Now that movie while cheesy in a bad way does have some of the best lines ever in a cheesy movie spoken by Robert Englunds character Ian.

Three sets of the lines with other characters (one set is only of Robert's character Ian below.

Cole: Hey, you think this is a good idea? I mean, wasn't that bitch dead a minute ago?
Ian: Fuck it. What's the worse that can happen?

Ian: Let's see if I got this straight - our best stripper is a reanimated corpse who is feeding off the living flesh of our customers, who in turn reanimate, even if they're just a fucking head?
    [nervously laughs]
Ian: You don't see this as a problem?

Berengé: Look, Ian, these zombies... they scare me. I can't sleep. I'm having nightmares.
Ian: Don't worry about them then.
    Berengé: They're murdering flesh-eating monsters!
    Ian: They're harmless.

  10. Thanks, Doug, now I know that I should avoid Strippers vs Zombies or whatever it's called. I do own Zombie Strippers and I quite like it. For sure, Robert Englund steals the show. Great performance and as you pointed out, some great one-liners.

  11. Hi all, originally I couldn't think of anything for these girls, but what about a playboy style mansion under seige by Z's ? I'm sure I've seen a Hugh Hefner type mini too.

Whilst the sculpt themselves are nice and Vampifan's paintjob is excellent I don't think these are for me.

  12. Bryan- You should watch Zombies, Zombies Zomnies (aka Strippers vs. Zombies) more for the sake of completeness in watching watching whats out there. It is a bad movie, but if you have seen or own House of the Dead by Uwe Boll then you have watched/own worse, where HotD on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being a movie like the original Dawn of the Dead or Day of the Dead, it would be a 2, and Zombies Zombies Zombies (Strippers vs. Zombies) would probably be about a 5. Now House of the Dead 2 which was more of a made for the Sci Fi Channel (now SyFy here in the US) movie, so it wont be a Romero classic, it is a lot better then the Uwe Boll one, and it even has an appearance by Sid Haig in it (always a plus if you ask me, he is a great horror movie actor).

  13. @Zabadak. Welcome to my blog, Joe! The Playboy mansion idea is a good one and I know just the figure you're talking about for Hugh Hefner. He appears with the Kit Kat Club girls in the Atomic Cafe range by Brigadier Games. It's a set that is on my to buy list.

@Doug. I guess we've all bought zombie films we regretted buying after watching them. The Zombie Diaries and Apocalypse of the Dead immediately spring to mind for me. I will avoid House of the Dead but I might be tempted by Zombies, Zombies, Zombies if you think it warrants a 5 out of 10. I, too, am a fan of Sid Haig.

  14. Bryan- Only reason I gave it a 5 out of ten is because of some funny moments, and of course the "cure" is ridiculous too, but I wont spoil it by telling you what it is.

  15. I've been looking at it on Amazon, where it only costs £3.93. Hmmm, sorely tempted. I reckon by the end of the weekend I'll have ordered it because now I want to know how it ends. Well, if it does turn out to be utter crap, I'm blaming you, Doug! Nah, not really. If it is utter crap I can only blame myself.

  16. It might be crap, but at least its crap with flesh eating undead in it. LOL

As I previously mentioned there are worse movies out there in the Zombie genre.

Now for a zombie movie based on a game I would actually love to see is Stubbs the Zombie. I enjoyed playing that game, in fact I still dig it out every so often and play through it when bored with nothing else to do. Though Stubbs isn't your classic zombie, he can rip his own head off and use it as a bowling ball.

  17. An inspiring sight! Very nice in more than one meaning of the word ;o)

  18. @Doug. I've never heard of Stubbs the Zombie. I am so out of touch with computer games. But he sounds like a fun character.

@Pijlie. I know exactly what you mean!
